The Voyage of Sabra
Michael Frankel undertook this Caribbean sailing adventure while serving as the captain on board for the Center for Marine Conservation, a public-policy research organization with over 100,000 members committed to marine conservation. Mr. Frankel is also the editor and publisher of Living Aboard, a quarterly journal for boaters living on their boats. When not living on his 32-foot junk-rigged schooner, Sabra, he calls the Washington, D.C., area his home.
Michael was born in Israel, where sabra refers to both a prickly cactus fruit and a native-born citizen — tough on the outside and sweet on the inside. He chose the name as an appropriate description of the boat and its occupant.
